Banking Specialist

(Senior Teller-Bookkeeper)

Full- Time Position

(30-40 hours per week)

 

Description:

The Banking Specialist (Senior Teller/Bookkeeper) is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial data and ensuring accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance. This role maintains precise records for accounts payable and receivable, payroll, daily financial transactions and account reconciliations. The Banking Specialist also manages investment portfolio accounts, including monthly and semi-annual payments and supports teller operations as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and daily financial transactions
  • Perform monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including journal entries, payments and adjustments
  • Prepare financial reports through data collection, analysis and summarization
  • Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules and regulations to ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable standards

Payroll & Tax Functions

  • Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner
  • Submit payroll taxes and ensure compliance with all payroll-related regulations

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Perform all accounts payable activities, including reviewing, coding and processing invoices and payments
  • Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, deposits, collections and revenue recognition

Reconciliations & Ledger Management

  • Conduct reconciliations of all accounts on an as-needed basis
  • Maintain and balance the general ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness

Investment Account Management

  • Manage investment portfolio accounts, including monthly and semi-annual payment processing and tracking

Teller Functions (as needed)

  • Process customer transactions
  • Handle cash transactions accurately and securely
  • Perform account maintenance activities

Qualifications:

Required

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or bookkeeping
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • High degree of accuracy with strong attention to detail

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (preferred but not required)
  • Experience in bank accounting and/or bookkeeping
  • Experience with the Fiserv bank accounting data processing system
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
